HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Hedyn has a wealth of experience working alongside health partners to develop and deliver projects that place people’s health and wellbeing at the centre. Our projects strive for best practice and we create safe and inclusive spaces where individuals can socialise, move and express themselves. Our projects aim to support both mental and physical health, help to reduce isolation and build more resilient communities. We tailor each project to meet the specific needs of the group, and with support from our partners, we ensure we have a complete understanding of the challenges they may face so that we can create a project that enriches their lives.

With each project, we bring in artists from a range of disciplines. In past projects, we have worked with musicians, filmmakers, and visual artists. We believe this collaborative approach allows us to deliver high-quality projects that reflect the diversity of the group.
Our projects currently support people living with Parkinson’s and dementia. We work with the following partners to ensure that members of these communities can access and feel a sense of belonging in our projects; Parkinson’s UK, Conwy Health and Wellbeing, Gwynedd Health and Wellbeing, North Wales Carers Trust.
SCHOOLS AND EDUCATION

Hedyn is currently part of the 7th cohort of Paul Hamlyn’s Teacher Development Fund. This enquiry based project titled Embedding Dance within the Curriculum for Wales, is working closely with teacher and senior leadership at 9 schools in the Llandudno area to support the schools in providing high quality dance and creative movement opportunities for their pupils. In the first year, the project enabled teachers to gain more experience and build confidence in delivering dance in their school.
Now in the second year of the fund the focus of the project is progression. We are working with dance education specialist Gina Roberts on how we can build a useful and usable framework supported by a resource bank that can support teachers to effectively teach dance in schools.
If you would like more information about how Hedyn can work with your school to deliver dance workshops, projects or help with curriculum design, please get in touch.
COMMUNITY

Youth Dance
Hedyn deliver bespoke youth dance projects for the communities of North Wales. Previous projects have included a summer project in collaboration with St Mary’s Church in Betws y Coed and a 6 week programme of sessions at Ysgol Eirias. Students from Ysgol Eirias have also supported our Dance for Parkinson’s session, bringing an intergenerational element to the sessions.
Hadau Bach | Little Seeds
Little Seeds are weekly creative movement sessions held in Penrhyn Bay for children with additional needs and disabilities. Informed by research in child development these welcome the whole family to explore a range of creative stimuli through play. We never know where these sessions might take us, beginning with some boxes, foil blankets and sponges our dance artists follow the interests of the children who attend.

Camau Bach | Little Steps
Little Steps sessions have been designed especially for babies and young children 0-2 and their adults. Inspired by nature, these playful sessions feature live music and use sensory props to encourage little ones to explore different sounds and textures. The sessions support not only little ones physical and emotional development but offer a relaxing creative space for families to bond together.
Twmpathau
A Twmpath is a Welsh Ceilidh. Hedyn regularly host twmpaths with and for the communities of North Wales. We work with bands including LoFi Jones, TwmpDaith and Sbri to be able to offer the very best of Welsh traditional music. Dances are called in an accessible way by experienced callers ensuring everyone can be involved. Our twmpaths often offer performance opportunities for local groups including Clocswyr Conwy and Clocswyr Madoc.
PROFESSIONALS
We work with professional freelance artists across North Wales to build a resilient, thriving, and creative dance community that pushes boundaries and inspires connection.
Our freelancers are at the heart of what we do. Through training and professional development, we invest in North Wales–based dance artists whose work strengthens communities and enriches the region’s creative landscape.

We create performance and choreography opportunities that bring high-quality, meaningful work to audiences across North Wales, work that resonates, connects communities, and
celebrates our unique landscape, language, and culture. Creating site-specific performances in outdoor and unexpected spaces is a defining part of our work, the natural environment, the people and places are embedded into the work we do.

Recent projects include Trap A Zoid with Oriel Mostyn, VRï X Cywaith Dawns as part of Conwy’s Winter Sounds with chamber-folk band VRï, Llys Helig as part of Beach of Dreams at West Shore Beach, Llandudno, international collaborations, and performances at the National Eisteddfod, including the outdoor family show Sblash - full of stomping rhythms, sensory delights, and audience participation.
Live music is integral to our work and we embrace opportunities to collaborate and work with musicians and artists from other disciplines, discovering new perspectives and creative possibilities.
If you’re interested in collaborating, we’d love to hear from you.
