Hedyn is a passionate organisation made up of freelance artists brought together by the belief that the arts and creative movement can transform lives. Based in North Wales, we work with individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the power of dance as a form of expression, connection, and cultural storytelling.
We are an organisation led by a dedicated team of Directors based in North Wales whose mission is to build an organisation that supports and uplifts the community, while also championing the professionalism and creative talents of local artists.

Our Directors are freelance professionals who volunteer their time to shape and deliver meaningful projects. Their dedication enables us to continue building a strong network of artists across North Wales and to provide high-quality arts experiences for our communities.
We are proud to work with a large team of associate artists who are based throughout North Wales and who each bring their unique practice and wealth of experience to our projects.

OUR HISTORY
Hedyn was first established as Cywaith Dawns | Dance Collective in 2005 by a group of freelance dance artists who were working in North Wales, with the aim of supporting Dance Artists to develop their practice through training opportunities and the creation of work. After being successful with grants from the Arts Council of Wales the company was able to support artists to develop their practice in choreography and performance. The works created were shown across North Wales.

In 2013 Cywaith Dawns | Dance Collective formed as a community interest company, allowing the organisation to further support dance artists to engage with continuous professional development and training. In 2014 they hosted Casgliad to showcase the work of artists in the region to a sell out audience in Galeri, Caernarfon.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the organisation’s work has expanded to include not only development and training opportunities for artists, but also high quality dance provision for the communities of North Wales. There was never a time that dance was needed more than post Covid-19, after periods of isolation for many. Dance Collective CIC developed programmes of dance with live music for babies, young children and their families, young children with additional needs and their families, people living with Parkinson’s and people living with Dementia to support the returning of vulnerable groups into society post lockdowns. These groups grew from strength to strength and alongside the programme of artist professional development offered, became the core work of the organisation.
After a very successful 20 years under the name Dance Collective, it was time for change, to better reflect the community focused work and align with the organisation’s vision of creating sustainable work that aligns with the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act (2015). In 2026 the organisation rebranded as Hedyn. Hedyn aims to plant seeds of creativity that will grow and flourish across North Wales.
